A children's acting group performed a play at Kingsbury Hall on Saturday that was based on the characters frog and toad from a popular kids' book series. They read these books in Kate and James kindergarten. There is even a Frog and Toad suitcase with a small stuffed frog and stuffed toad in it. The kids in the class take turns bringing the bag home for an adventure. Before the end of the day, the kid with the bag details the adventure of the evening for a parent to record in a book that is also in the suitcase. James had the suitcase first at our house. He got it the day we went to the Utah State Fair. Kate got the suitcase a month or so later. We had a play date at our house that evening. Well, a couple of the moms of kids in the kindergarten had the brilliant idea of inviting the whole class to one of the Frog and Toad performances and then the whole gang going to an early dinner afterward. Yesterday was the big day and the kids had a fabulous time. I think about half of the 20 or so kids went to the play. We all tried to buy tickets near each other, but only a few were actually next to classmates. James and Kate had a blast getting the attention of classmates and waiving for the 15 minutes we were there before the show began. They both know a few of the story lines that were presented in the play and loved it. I tried to get a few minutes of rest and was mildly successful.
We all met at B&D Burger for dinner after the show. We came and ate in a tornado of kid chatter and chaos, but the kids couldn't have had more fun together. There really are some cute and fun kids in that class and it's fun to see my kids making such good friends.
