We've had sick kids for two weeks now. There's a mean cold going around. James was first and then Kate came down with it just as things started looking up for James. I took James to the doctor who told me that while James was definitely sick, there was nothing he could do to help him. With kids' cold medicines off the market now (and apparently not effective anyhow), warm honey and lemon water was the best advice we could get. We call it the "special drink." Neither Kate nor James are big fans, but will drink a bit. (Any home remedy ideas out there?) Kate feels she's in need of extra TLC, including the comfort of two pacifiers.
Ben stayed home with the kids today. While you can see from the photos of Kate that she's quite miserable, Ben found a way to get them both laughing. We thought we'd share the source of their laughter with all of you. Enjoy the short video clip below:
Ugh! I didn't know you were fighting sicknesses too! No fun! Hopefully they are able to kick it soon, before it cycles through the household again. Love the double pacifiers! That girl is pretty clever :)
OMG! LOVE it! Hilarious! Sorry the twinners are under the weather, but those pics totally made us laugh. Ian's been fighting this same 2-week cold, too. I think he'd double-up on the passies too if he could. Our home remedies have included chicken noodle soup (the home made stuff-- we know from experience that Ben has the skillz) and Costco rolls. Really sophisticated, I know.
In loco parentis, the title of our blog, is Latin for "in the place of a parent." It is a legal term that refers to the responsibility of a person or organization to take on some of the functions and responsibilities of a parent.
In Spanish, loco means crazy.
While Ben and Julie think they are doing a fairly decent job under the first definition, Kate, James, and even Robert (as communicated through Kate) would like all readers to know that their parents identify with the Spanish meaning as well.
About us We (Ben and Julie) married in February, 2000. Both of us are lawyers and enjoy healthy arguments regarding both things of import and things of no import. We are the parents of three-year-old twins (cheerful, cute Kate, and handsome, headstrong James) and our new baby Robert (a delightful angel). Kate likes reading books, watching Dora episodes, and cooking with her dad. James likes riding his bike, playing with balls, and watching out for Robert. Robert loves eating, a dry diaper, and sleeping.

I've never seen anyone double up on the passy before. Hopefully, it did her the good she needed. Feel better soon!!
