St. George

Ben had a conference in St. George last week. He came back to Salt Lake on Thursday for a speech in the afternoon at the UofU and another that evening at BYU. The BYU Political Science Department asked him to be the speaker for their closing banquet. They asked him to speak about Salt Lake City's non-discrimination ordinances that Ben played a key role in drafting and garnering wide-spread support for. His speech was fantastic and well received. When he was finished, the Chair of the department told him the speech should be published and distributed far and wide.

Following the speech, we picked up our kids from a babysitter (in Provo) and the whole family headed down to St. George for the rest of the weekend. Like our last weekend away, the kids did a lot of swimming. Unlike our last weekend away, we enjoyed lots of warmth and sunshine, including an afternoon picnic and kite-flying at a park near the St. George Airport.

It looks like a lot of fun! Maybe we should meet there sometime.

How fun! Glad you guys have been able to get away and spend some time together. Glad the speeches went so well! I'd love to get my hands on a copy if they ever do publish it :)
